Exhibition “MEMORIAL PLACES. From Pontus and Asia Minor to Macedonia”
Exhibitions 28 May 2022
Museum of the Macedonian Struggle
The exhibition “MEMONIAL PLACES. From Pontus and Asia Minor to Macedonia” with artworks, photographic and archival material from the collection of the Emeritus Professor of the University of Western Macedonia, Mr. Konstantinos Fotiadis and other creators is part of the activities of the Foundation Museum of the Macedonian Struggle and Modern History of Macedonia for the centenary of the Asia Minor Catastrophe and the promotion of the history and culture of Pontus and Asia Minor. The works present the undoubted prosperity and progress of Hellenism in the East in economy, education and culture, as well as the need of refugees and future generations to preserve, preserve and promote in perpetuity the customs and traditions of the motherland. After all, the uprooting of hundreds of thousands of Greeks from their ancestral homes and their arrival in Macedonia changed the landscape of the then Greek state and was the benchmark of an unprecedented process. The artists, through contemporary and traditional media, depict on the one hand, scenes of everyday life and carefree living and on the other hand, they awaken with the resounding message of the hard road of refugeeism.
