8th Biennale of Contemporary Art in Thessaloniki / “Yannis and Miltos Manakia. The faces behind the lens”

“Yannis and Miltos Manakia. The faces behind the lens” is the title of the new exhibition of the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle, which was inaugurated by the Deputy Minister of Interior, responsible for Macedonia – Thrace, Mr. Stavros Kalafatis, on Wednesday, February 15, 2023. The exhibition is part of the programme of the 8th Thessaloniki Biennale of Contemporary Art, organised by MOMus, under the general title “Geoculture”.

The exhibition was curated by Mrs. Stavroula Mavrogeni, Professor at PAMAK, Director of the Centre for Research in Macedonian History and Documentation (KEMIT) and Fani Tsatsiaia, Art Historian, PhD in Contemporary History, University of Thessaloniki, Director of the Foundation for the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle and of Modern History of Macedonia (IMMA). The temporary exhibition presents for the first time to the public a large collection of photographs from the personal archive of Leonidas Manakis, son of Miltos Manakias, which was given to the IMMA by the Ambassador Extraordinary Mr. Alexandros Mallias.
