FOUNDATION FOR THE MUSEUM OF THE MACEDONIAN STRUGGLE
The Foundation for the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle and the Modern History of Macedonia
Having regard to:
1. The provisions of the Decree of 26 January 1999 on the establishment of a Foundation under the name “Foundation for the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle” (No. 36 of the Official Gazette)
2. Decision No. 191 of the Board of Directors of the Foundation on the granting of the ‘VEZYROGLOU’ monetary prize ADVERTISE
The award of the ‘VEZYROLOGOU’ prize for the purpose of recording, transcribing, translating and studying the business archive of the Vezyroglu family, which is a source for the economic history of Macedonia and Asia Minor in the early 20th century, two postgraduate students enrolled in the “Postgraduate Studies Programme in Historical Research” of the Department of History and Archaeology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, provided that the candidates are familiar with Ottoman Palaeography, which is necessary for the complete study of the above-mentioned archive. A copy of this archive has been deposited at the Centre for Research in Macedonian History and Documentation (KEMIT) of IMMA.
The amount of the monetary award for each postgraduate student is set at a total of 2.500€ and will be paid in ten instalments. The duration of the work for the processing of the business archive of the Vezyroglou family is set at 10 months. The first payment will be made on 30 November 2023 and the last on 30 August 2024. The students are required to complete their obligations by July 30, 2024 and to deliver to IMMA the project completed and in final form (digital) byOctober 30, 2024. In case students withdraw from the project before its completion, they must return the amount received until the date of withdrawal.
Mr. Fokion P. Kotzageorgis, Associate Professor of Ottoman History at the Department of History and Archaeology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, will be responsible for the supervision and evaluation of the individual projects of the two students.

The selection criterion among several candidates who meet the necessary requirements (graduates of the Department of History and Archaeology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, postgraduate students enrolled in the “Postgraduate Program in Historical Research” of the Department of History and Archaeology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, with knowledge of Ottoman Palaeography) is the degree.
