Easter workshops for children at the Museum of Macedonian Struggle "Spring and Lilac...Nature wakes up!"
DURATION
29 April – 1 May 2024
LOCATION
Museum of the Macedonian Struggle

From Monday to Wednesday, the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle organizes the traditional experiential workshops for children aged 5-10 years old with Easter activities and art activities!

The workshops are implemented by the Museum’s scientific team, in the Museum’s premises and in the courtyard of the 43rd Primary School of Thessaloniki. The children participating in the programme will learn about the lilac customs in Macedonia through the eyes of well-known artists and with the aim of developing environmental awareness at a time of year when the rebirth of nature is linked to our folklore.

A series of multidisciplinary activities awaits young museum-goers to observe kinesthetically familiar works of art juxtaposed with the contemporary natural environment and the history of Thessaloniki in the early 20th century.

Environmental walks, experiments with plastic material, colors and painting techniques, getting to know the Macedonian Easter customs, digital games, kinetic actions in the yard and music, all together make up an interactive educational and entertainment program that stimulates the interest of children! The purpose of the Museum’s workshops is to mobilize children’s imagination and critical thinking and to give them time and the appropriate pedagogical conditions to listen to environmental changes, the importance of the multicultural history of our city and to create their own, developing modern 21st century skills.
