The Museum of the Macedonian Struggle will be open with special opening hours but with its activities in full swing during the holidays, from Christmas to Epiphany. A Christmas concert, a New Year’s art workshop, the shadow theater exhibition “The Heroic Drama in the Shadow Theatre” and, of course, the great permanent exhibition of relics, documents from Macedonia of the 19th – 20th century and a collection of contemporary paintings inspired by the First World War.
Christmas Concert: organized by the Friends of the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle, on Friday, December 22, 2017, at 19.30 p.m. and hosted in the “Alexandros Haitoglou” hall of the Museum.
The proceeds will be used to support the Museum’s activities.

FIRST CHRISTMAS WORKSHOP : For children 7-12 years old, from 27 to 29 December (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday) 10:00 a.m.-14:00 p.m.
In our museum space, children will come into contact with the great painters who were engaged in the celebrations of the Twelve Days. The aim of the workshop is for our young friends to become familiar, in an experiential way, with various works of art and their symbolism, to experiment with materials and techniques in order to create their own works. The workshop is under the supervision of Mrs. Stavroula Mavrogeni, Assistant Professor at UOM and Director of the Research Centre of the Foundation.

UNIQUE EXHIBITION : The main phases of the history of Macedonia in the 19th and early 20th century, as well as the social, economic, political and military developments that decisively influenced the future of Hellenism in the region, are presented in seven rooms on the ground floor.
SHADOW THEATER: During the school year 2017-2018, the Macedonian Struggle Museum Foundation hosts, in the Alexandros Haitoglou Hall, the exhibition entitled “Heroic Drama in the Shadow Theatre”. The Karagiozis is part of our folk tradition and through his clever jokes he spreads laughter to young and old alike. The exhibition presents all the struggles of the Greeks, from the pre-revolutionary years to the Second World War.
For the needs of the exhibition, great Karagiozis players such as: Themis Dukas, Michalis Hieronymidis, Odysseas Kanlis, Konstantinos Kouyoumtzis, Anastasios Kuzis, Konstantinos Koutsoumblis, Christos Stanisis, Nikos Tzivelekis, Michalis Hatzakis, Yannis Hatzis, as well as other foundations and individuals such as: Cultural Association “Friends of Yannis Skarimba”, Spatharios Museum, Thanasis Koutsogiannis, Takis Mazarakis, Sofia Michopoulou and Dimitris Fanaras.
